It’s no secret that Trump’s America is a scary place. For the first time in history, the US has a president who has openly admitted to groping his daughter and cheating on his wife. His misogynistic and sexist behavior has caused a ripple effect through the hearts and minds of many individuals. Cecilia Rutherford, a liberal arts TA at the University of Confluence had her relationships so damaged by the Trump administration that she had this to say when interviewed:
“I haven’t been intimate with my main boyfriend since Trump took office. Since he hates women, my self-confidence is at an all time low. How would you feel if you knew that the leader of your country hated you personally? I just couldn’t find myself getting aroused around my main boyfriend for this reason. Our relationship is in shambles and it’s all because of Donald Trump.”
At every level in the spectrum, Trump is negatively affecting the inhabitants of our great nation. Everything from him trying to destroy our health care, to sending more of our brave men out to die than ever before, to making it harder than ever to get the abortions we so rightfully deserve – all the way down to our personal lives.
We asked Cecilia Rutherford to expand on her struggles.
“I love my main boyfriend, don’t get me wrong. But he’s a cisgendered white male and… I don’t know… it’s just hard to accept him intimately knowing that he’s of the same kind as Donald Trump. That’s why I have a second boyfriend, a POC who my main is ok with.”
Not all of us are so lucky to have found a solution like Cecilia did but for the next four years, we are in this together. Never quit, Cecilia! We will find a way.
