A friend of mine recently recommended that I watch a favourite anime of theirs and I felt particularly generous that day so I gave it a watch. I was repulsed. Never before had I seen such a frightening display of sexism and misogyny. Filled with anger, I decided to do a little bit more research into these sinister Japanese cartoons and then it hit me: Anime is a tool of the Patriarchy.
Firstly we must address the elephant in the room. Women in anime are simply used to satisfy the male gaze. That’s pretty much it, they serve little to no relevance to the plot except for being something pretty for your basement dwelling bigot to pleasure themselves to. They are either too skinny, too big breasted or too submissive. Of course this goes without saying that this is deeply condescending to women of size and disabled women who aren’t represented at all in these horrifying shows.
Fans of anime are essentially enablers of the Patriarchy, they consume this toxic content to great lengths in basements and caves. To make things worse they make a habit out of dressing up as these characters. Obviously, this means that they are taking the oppression straight into the public, no doubt causing great distress for women who are forced to see these discriminatory characters.
Here at NPC Daily, we tried to get in contact with an anime fan but every time we tried to ask questions they started communicating in Japanese and swiftly left the scene. However, we were able to set up a private interview with the founder of the Feminists against Anime Gang (or F.A.A.G. for short) and rising feminist icon Lilith Von Darlington.
NPC Daily: Good morning Lilith, pleasure to speak to you. Would you like an avocado soy latte before we start?
Lilith: No thank you I’ve had three this morning.
NPC Daily: Oh I forgot to ask but what are your preferred pronouns?
Lilith: Ze and zey, yourself?
NPC Daily: Xe, xir and xiy. Now onto the first question. When did you first realize that anime was corrupting young persons into xenophobic fascists?
Lilith: It was a few weeks ago. I was going about my job teaching modern art at college and I saw several students watching these peculiar Japanese cartoons on their laptops. At first I thought nothing of it until a fellow lesbian activist educated me about the malevolent propaganda these unsuspecting students were being subjected to.
NPC Daily: Seeing your students brainwashed before your very eyes must’ve been horrifying. What did you do then?
Lilith: With no option left, I banned it permanently from the classroom and later managed to get it banned throughout the college after a meeting with the diversity and inclusion team.
NPC Daily: Excellent strategy. Did it work?
Lilith: Not really. Many of the students continued to watch it which made me literally shake with fury. I tried to save them but it seems I was too late. Students suspected of viewing this alt right propaganda were permanently expelled and soon enough a good half of my class was gone.
NPC Daily: Good heavens. Then what happened?
Lilith: It came to a point where the college executives outrageously felt that I was doing damage to the college and I was fired. Soon after I spent a while trying to find a job only to be rejected every time. Apparently I wasn’t ‘qualified’ enough. Fortunately I was able to get a job at Starbucks.
NPC Daily: Are you still there now?
Lilith: No. Once again I was fired, this time for punching a Nazi wearing one of those dreadful MAGA hats.
NPC Daily: That’s despicable. You should have been given a promotion. Now tell me, how did you found the F.A.A.G. movement?
Lilith: Well I went to my daily protest and spoke to some like-minded activists. They were very understanding when I told them my struggles and I founded the Feminist against Anime Gang shortly after.
NPC Daily: So brave. What does your movement do then?
Lilith: We mostly knock on doors and hand out leaflets. If we find out that any members of the community watches anime, we report them to the local thought police who then send them away for re-education.
NPC Daily: So stunningly bold. Thank you for your time Lilith, I hope you enjoy the rest of your day.
Lilith: Oh I will as I’m on patrol later. We’ve received intel that a group of Neo Nazis are going to a convention dressed up as anime characters so we’re going to round them up and end their bigotry.
NPC Daily: I wish you good luck in your endeavor.
This interview proved to be a jaw dropping account into how anime is destroying lives. However, little did we here at NPC Daily realise that this issue goes much deeper than the Patriarchy. Anime is racist as well.
Simply watching even a handful of these monstrosities reveals that the white supremacists have infected the unwary nation of Japan. Many of these characters have white skin, blue eyes and blonde or brown hair. This is extremely problematic and quite frankly goes to show what villainy Trump’s America is capable of. What troubles me even more is the lack of representation of people of colour. African American people don’t seem to exist in anime and I have yet to hear of a single anime with a Native American main character.
NPC Daily reporters have been able to ask Prime Minister Shinzo Abe what he thinks about this misogynistic outbreak of white nationalist propoganda. Please bear in mind that this is only a rough translation as our chief translator has been recovering from PTSD since 2016.
“Anime good. Make wife happy. I go eat dog now” Shinzo Abe.
As you can see here clear as day, the Prime Minister of Japan has endorsed this startling rise of fascism. Is anywhere in the world free from the Trump Regime?
