Transphobic universities facing backlash for not having urinals in women’s bathrooms

It's 2019. More and more women are able to use urinals. Schools should adapt accordingly.

In an onslaught of transphobic hate that swept through a multitude of universities in our country, many schools are facing backlash for hate crimes against transgender individuals. In this case, it takes the form of excluding urinals from women’s restrooms.

It’s a biological fact that not all men have penises and not all women have vaginas. This is settled science – so why haven’t some universities caught up? As if the problem of not giving out free tampons in men’s restrooms weren’t enough, transgender women now have to face the harsh reality that they may not be able to urinate into a urinal made specifically for the organs they possess.

Millennial activists from North Arbon State University have expressed their outrage by gathering in protest outside the administration building through the act of urinating on themselves while screaming culturally enriched statements at the top of their lungs

I’m a male to female transgender woman and I still have the parts I was assigned with. I want to go to the bathroom like everyone else but when I get there, there’s nothing but stalls and toilets! Um… excuse me?! Just because I am a woman doesn’t automatically mean I don’t have a penis! This hatred my schools has for transgender people is appalling. I demand urinals in the women’s restrooms!

It may not be today and it may not be tomorrow, but someday we will live in a society where men, women and everyone in between will have the same rights as everyone else. Until every university, college, school and institution across America install urinals in the women’s bathrooms, the protesting will not stop. It’s time to get on the right side of history.
