College liberals petition to have Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez on the $20 dollar bill

It's time for our currency to reflect the good will and intentions of the American promise

The face of the $20 dollar bill has been occupied by Andrew Jackson since 1928. In case anyone remembered, Andrew Jackson was a white land holding slave owner who does not belong on our 2019 currency. In fact, the vast majority of our founding fathers would not be considered true progressives by 2019 standards – but that’s beside the point.

Trump and his racist administration shut down the efforts to put Harriet Tubman, a stunning and brave woman of color on the $20 dollar bill out of sheer hatred towards African Americans. However, this act of sheer misogyny and racism isn’t nearly enough to stop liberal students from NYU from protesting in favor of putting Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez on the $20 dollar bill instead.

Why Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez on the new $20? Because she’s tough. She’s strong. She’s Latinx and she’s as American as you can get and holds true liberal ideals to heart. She could win a Nobel Prize in physics. She’s the future savior of our country.

I’ve been putting a sticker of Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez over all of my $20 bills before I pay or tip. The country needs a new face to replace the dated ideologies of Andrew Jackson. America isn’t about slavery anymore. It isn’t about oppression or injustice. America is about hope, freedom, social justice and income equality. America is about everything Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez represents.

We need this in our country. NYU is the start of a grand movement that will end in progressive liberals appearing everywhere we look – the way America should be. Diversity is our strength.
