Is he a rapist? ‘Findm’ is the new searchable sexual assault tracker app

New app allows women to search for and submit information on the men who sexually assaulted them.

Women will soon be able to utilize a ground-breaking app to search for the names of men they believe have committed sexual crimes, as well as submit assaults to the database to be discovered by other women.

For too long, unsuspecting women have entered into relationships and gone on dates with men who sport long histories of sexual assaults. Due to the patriarchal court systems, most of these men never see the inside of a court room, and are never labeled as the criminals they are.

No longer do women have to suffer, though, due to a new app coming onto the marketplace at the end of summer 2019. We received special access to this app, called ‘Findm,’ which allowed the female journalists here at the office the ability to log our sexual assaults, the name of the perpetrator, and his last known location (as well as other details such as work location and internet activity, if applicable). It was simple, easy to use, and both enlightening and frightening. We found more information on our coworkers and friends than we had bargained for.

The creator of the app, Melissa Campbell, explained to us some of the positives that have already come out of beta-testing. At her local coffee shop in Boston, with the help of the management, her team was able to identify and fire a sexual predator working there.

Soon enough, it will be safer for women to date again, and with the help of Findm, men will know that they are on notice, and no longer will be able to get away with sexual assault as they have been for years (as evidenced by the lack of court action spurred by the #MeToo movement).

Help the creators of Findm build their growing database by going to their website and selecting “Log” to add your assaulter to the list. As stated on the FAQ on the Findm website, “please keep in mind that this app is for women, by women, and only men should be submitted to the database for accurate recording.”

Stay safe and fight back,

Quinn.
