Disney came under fire over the weekend after leaks of the new Pixar feature film starring President Trump. In case it hasn’t been made clear from us, BuzzFeed, CNN or MSNBC, Trump is a terrible, awful, no-good, very bad person who hates Mexicans and women. The fact that Disney wants to glorify Trump’s bigotry with a Pixar film is reprehensible.
This isn’t the first time that Disney turned a blind eye to bigotry and hatred. Disney has openly showed support for the Hong Kong protesters who proudly wave the very flag Colin Kaepernick chooses to disrespect. If Colin Kaepernick has an opinion, we follow – no questions asked.
That’s why the hashtag #BoycottMulan was trending. If Disney supports those who wave the American flag, Disney is not to be taken seriously as a woke company.
The movie is set to release May of 2020 only a few months before the 2020 elections. Marvel movies and other Disney movies have a tendency to rock box office records with millions of viewers – which means tremendous influence. Should this Trump movie drop at that time, Disney could be solely responsible for Trump’s re-election.
This is not what Walt Disney would have wanted. Walt Disney was a Democratic Socialist who would want his audience to vote blue no matter who. Diversity is our strength. That’s why we must #BoycottDisney.
