Though relatively small, there’s still a chance that Bernie Sanders could become the President of the United States even today in 2017. It’s no secret that Vladimir Putin hacked the 2016 election causing Donald Trump to win. Just because Bernie Sanders lost to Hillary Clinton who subsequently lost to Donald Trump, doesn’t mean that all hope is gone for Sanders! Here are four ways that Bernie Sanders can still become President of the United States in 2017.
1) Trump Gets Impeached
If the impeachment process for Donald Trump goes through to completion, Hillary Clinton would otherwise be the rightful president of the United States. However, due to a private conversation between Hillary Clinton and Bernie Sanders, she promised that she would make him president of the United States if Trump gets impeached. Therefore, if Trump’s impeachment moves forward, Bernie Sanders would become the president.
2) A Full National Vote Recount
After Donald Trump got “elected”, only Wisconsin had a statewide vote recount. As it turned out, in just that state, there were more Trump voters than Hillary voters. That isn’t to say that if the rest of the states had recounts, the results certainly could be different. There’s a strong chance that Bernie Sanders won the popular vote in the 2016 election. This would immediately change the results of the electoral college count as well.
3) A Constitutional Change.org Petition
If the American Citizens were to band together and create an official Bernie Sanders Change.org petition to put him into office and it receives at least 70 million signatures, Bernie Sanders could become the president of the United States. Furthermore, since there is no such thing as an “illegal immigrant”, citizens currently known as undocumented would be allowed to vote in this process as well.
4) Trump Resigns and Appoints Bernie
It’s a long shot, but it could happen. Given the pressure that president Donald Trump is under right now, it is very likely that he will resign before getting impeached. If this happens, Bernie Sanders would be appointed by Donald Trump to take his place. In this situation though, Mike Pence would be moved to Speaker of the House and Hillary Clinton would become the new Vice President.
There’s still hope and there’s still a future to believe in! Just because the election is over and Donald Trump is four months into his presidency does not mean it’s over for Bernie Sanders.
